This is a tough one to answer but it all starts with where are you getting your traffic.
Because a lot of the teaching in the Billionaire Blog Club revolves around utilizing Pinterest for traffic to start off, many people find that initially, their traffic can be a rollercoaster.
When it suddenly drops they panic.
With Pinterest there are 3 types of pins:
- PIns that don't do anything
- Pins that go viral for a short amount of time
- Pins that bring consistent, steady traffic
As a blogger, you're aiming for #2 & #3. You can't achieve #3 until you achieve #2.
The problem is that when you achieve #2, you want the wild ride to continue and it doesn't work that way.
You see your traffic spiking for a couple of days and you love that ride but when the pin dies down so does your traffic. You wish there was a way to ensure that it always continues to trend up and there is no guaranteed way.
That seems like bad news but the good news is that if the pin was successful once, it has a much better shot of being successful again later on.
To help understand what long term pageviews look like, here are some snapshots from Google Analytics from three of our members:
Marybeth's Numbers from January 9th to February 5th
"If I looked a this, I would be crying in my Cheerios on February 5th (I probably was).
In January I had 2 viral pins AND I was featured on two different Craft blogs, which accounts for all of those crazy spikes.
BUT, if I look at this…
Marybeth's Numbers from August 2017 to April 2018
Then I can see that my pageviews are growing quite nicley from 17k last September (1 month after joining BBC) to steadily in the mid 50k range for the last 3 months. So I can’t complain about going from 115k in January to half of that the following month. Because 57k is still more than 3x better than what I started with in Sept. That spike in January is the anomaly, the massive dip in February is a return to normal." - Marybeth
These are Sasha’s stats from the inception of her blog. She started implementing BBC in September. She has a spike in March from a viral pin and in April she started levelling out again.
And here's one more:
These are Hilda’s stats from when she started pinning. Hilda doesn’t have as dramatic of a spike (yet!), but she still has the same peeks and valleys and over the course of time, her numbers are doing great (Note that May was only about half over when we took this screenshot, so that number will end the month higher).
