Before you even attempt to read this post I need you to make sure you’ve scheduled enough ample time to get through it and process it.
Because this post isn’t just a back of the brochure post giving you little tidbits.
I’m going to give you the complete breakdown on how I made over $100,000 in one week.
If you don’t have time to devote to this now, then bookmark it or email it to yourself and set a reminder.
With that being said, let’s begin.
I’ve been building websites since around 2003. The majority of them have failed to produce any type of income whatsoever.
Looking back I completely understand why that was the case.
In 2017, I decided to make a change.
I decided that instead of getting in my own way I was going to step to the side.
What does that mean? It means I was going to actually observe others and see what is working for them.
Instead of rolling my eyes in the back of my head thinking that what everyone else was doing wasn’t special, I wanted to keep my eyes focused on what was working for everybody else so I could see how to integrate it into my own life.
When I decided to create Dare to Conquer I didn’t really have a full vision about what it was going to become. I just knew that I wanted to help people live a more free life.
If you can make more money that opens up more doors for you and that is what I help people do.
But initially, this site was just a Pinterest course. Then I added an SEO course. Then an affiliate marketing one.
While you can buy these courses individually, I never liked the idea of people having to pay for things over and over again and because all of this was about building an online business I figured it made sense that you could buy all of the courses in a single package.
Now, remember, I want to help as many people as possible have a chance of creating the lifestyle that they want which means I always underprice my things. It’s not because I want to undercut the competition.
I don’t care about the competition.
It’s because I know these things can be expensive for people and so I try to find the right balance between giving people a shot of getting in and also making enough money so I can continue to create great things.
Before the big week, I believe the price for complete lifetime access to everything DTC was $347.
I sent out an email letting people know that they had 7 days to purchase access before the price went up to $499.
I could end this post right there and say this is how I made over $100,000 in 7 days. I gave people a deadline and they jumped on it, but that’s too simplistic of an explanation.
It actually goes much deeper than that and that’s what I want to explore in this post.
It Starts With the Audience
No matter what business you decide to start you have to understand that it starts with your audience.
If there is no potential audience for your idea, then you don’t have a business.
If you can’t attract the audience, then you don’t have a business.
If you can’t get the audience to purchase from you, then you don’t have a business.
For those of you that want to be sneaky and tell me that if you use ads as a revenue stream then you don’t need to get the audience to purchase. What you have to understand is that when that occurs your audience isn’t your readers, but the advertisers. The readers are the product.
So with that in mind, it’s important to know who your audience is. In DTC we call this your Hero.
DTC Members go through a number of exercises to really understand their Hero and by doing so it becomes a lot easier to communicate with them in a way that makes them feel like you understand them.
Why is this important?
Because in today’s world, people are being bombarded by 1000s of messages daily by brands. Many of these messages are just general things that are meant for large audiences so we learn to tune them out.
Instead, we tend to only look for the messages that matter to us at that moment in time.
So it’s pretty damn hard to get people’s attention AND keep it in today’s world.
To make it easier on yourself you need to learn how to communicate with your Hero in a way that makes them feel like they need to pay attention whenever you speak.
They will do this when they feel like you have their best interests in hand.
If you go through DTC’s 6-Figure Business Bootcamp then you know this is the case with me.
While I want everyone in the world to sign up for a DTC Membership, it’s my goal to press you on it so much that you think every time I want to talk to you, it’s about selling something.
Because of this approach I always get replies back to my emails from people saying how much they love them and I’m one of the few people that they read.
That’s flattering and I always try to improve the experience because I want to maintain people’s attention so that they can tell others about me.
And this is where things can change for you.
The Tribe Does the Work
The problem with building a business with a strong brand as its foundation is that it can take a bit of time before you start seeing results.
Well, it takes time for you to establish yourself to your audience. You don’t get to open your site one day and then the very next day people are telling their friends how awesome you are.
While you can get traffic from day 1, it takes a bit of time before people start to see you as the authority figure they need or as I like to call it their Guide.
However, once you start to get people seeing you as their Guide and you lead them to a Transformation (I’ll get to that in a second) then they’ll have no problem telling everybody they know about you.
The key though is that you have to lead them to a Transformation.
What is that?
To put it simply it’s how you lead them from Point A to Point B.
While there are a bunch of emotional elements to it that you learn in Dare to Conquer, it’s just going to be easier for me if I talk about the external elements.
So on Dare to Conquer I say that I will help you build a business that makes $100,000-a-year in 18 months. That means by the 18th month, and probably a lot sooner, you’ll have a business that is earning you $8,333.33 a month.
That’s Point B.
Point A might be having no business or it might be a business making $1,000 a month.
Either way, if I can lead you to Point B, the big Transformation, then you’ll more than likely recommend me to others.
When you can get people to do that then you experience two things:
- Word of mouth marketing
- The network effect
Word-of-Mouth Marketing Is the Best Marketing
We’ve already talked about how it can take you some time to get established in the minds of your audience.
But do you know who doesn’t need time to get established in people’s minds?
Their friends and colleagues.
Word-of-mouth marketing is powerful because it comes from people that your audience trusts.
If Julie says Dare to Conquer is great then it must be true because she wouldn’t lie to me.
Get a group of people to do that and then you have a network effect.
The Network Effect
It doesn’t matter how many people you can reach on your own. The amount of people that your audience can reach combined is always going to be larger.
It makes sense right?
Let’s say my direct network is 100 people. The only way the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc tiers of my network are smaller is if I’m the only person that those 100 people talk to.
That will never be the case.
If those 100 people are talking to 10 unique individuals apiece then my network is 100 + 1000.
That’s insanely valuable and it means I don’t have to spend money on ads.
It means that I don’t have to send out a million sales emails.
If my Tribe is telling their colleagues that the price is going up and it’s something they don’t want to miss then that’s my marketing in action.
You have to be careful though.
Many times you’ll see recommendations simply because the person is an affiliate of a program. While DTC Members are affiliates of DTC I always strongly discourage them from selling DTC if it hasn’t helped them.
It’s like the people selling Bluehost that aren’t on Bluehost because they didn’t like it.
When someone recommends DTC to someone they know I want them to know they can trust that recommendation because if that recommendation was simply made as a cash grab and the program sucks (it doesn’t), then it looks worse on me than the affiliate.
It’s much easier to destroy a brand than it is to build one up so you need to be careful.
Hopefully, all of this is making sense to you so far.
We aren’t done yet.
None of this works if you have a crappy product.
The Right Product for the Right People
It’s hard to convince people that a product is worth their time getting their wallet out.
It’s even harder to convince people that a product is worth recommending to others.
Over the years the best thing I’ve found is that it’s much better to make the right product and market it to the right people instead of making a good product and casting a wide net.
I’ll be honest. Dare to Conquer isn’t for everybody.
Some people just want to make quick money now or don’t understand the work that goes into building a strong Brand Business.
There others who see bloggers making money writing
That’s fine and that’s why I have a completely separate blogging course that teaches you how to scale a blog from $0 – $1,000 in 6 months.
For DTC, I have to find people that understand the importance of building a strong brand for their business so it will allow them to make as much money as they want.
It requires people that aren’t afraid to experiment and push themselves every single month.
Those people aren’t all over the place and so it means I have to continue to work on my messaging to alert those people that Dare to Conquer exists.
There is a reason why this post isn’t just about me creating some courses and then raising the prices.
I don’t want you to think that’s all that went into getting this far because it isn’t. It took a lot to achieve this and it didn’t happen overnight.
For those of you that can see that then maybe you’ll consider joining DTC. If you want to go even deeper into this philosophy of building a business then sign up for the 6-Figure Online Business Bootcamp.
