BBC Email Archives

Stop, Drop & Leave

BBC opens its doors this Thursday! Are you ready?

I was supposed to send out an email over the weekend talking about how I achieved a specific type of blogging success.

I'll send that email out later.

Something happened with my wife's father over the weekend. He's okay but it was enough for my wife to move up her scheduled trip to Florida in 3 weeks so now she'll leave this week.

Please don't send well wishes, prayers or any of that stuff. I know y'all are good people. It feels weird even talking about this in an email where I talk about BBC opening this week but there is a connection with blogging so here we are.

What does this have to do with blogging?

Usually, when I talk about the good stuff about blogging it involves living the lifestyle you want which means doing the fun things that you want.

But it also means you get to do the necessary things.

For me, family always comes first. That's the rule.

Straight Fast & The Furious Dominic Torreto type of stuff.

So when I saw my wife was worried about her dad I told her to just get a flight tomorrow (this was Friday night).

For a second she had this look on her face. You know the look.

The look where you have to think about all of the things you need to take care of if you are going to leave.

The thing is, the only things she has to take care of is emailing Keto Dash people (she rocks that community) and making sure I don't drop our son.

Once she remembered that was all that was needed by her (it's hard to break old habits) she went on her phone and changed her flight.

Blogging has provided us with that peace of mind.

That's something I don't think people account for or one of the reasons they're putting in time with this crazy blogging thing.

Yeah you want to quit your job or pay off your student loans or make more money for your family.

But a side effect of doing all of that is that you can do what you need to do when you need to do it.

Will it happen overnight? Nope.

But it can happen.

One of the cool things that has happened this year is seeing BBC members get into Mediavine (an ad network).

To apply for Mediavine you need to achieve 25,000 sessions in a 30-day period. Once you get in, you get ads up on your site.

Now this is my least favorite way to monetize a site but it's great to do initially because it brings in money.

Do you know how awesome it is to work on something and see it make $300 in a month?

Yeah, it's not crazy buy a yacht type of money but it is money YOU EARNED so it's a different kind of money.

It's the money you earned without someone telling you what to do.

It's the money that you earned that didn't actually go towards making someone else richer.

It's the money that is going to let you start doing things that you want on your own time.

You're going to get sick and tired of hearing me say this but this is my goal for Billionaire Blog Club Members.

I don't try to paint blogging as some romantic journey where you follow your passion and get to wake up to Disney animals singing some morning song to you.

I want it to be the gateway to something bigger for you.

The rest of the week I'm going to hit you with some BBC 4.0 stuff but more importantly, I'm going to open up the curtain to some things I do with my blog network to push each blog to the levels of success that I want.

You can take these nuggets and run wild with them.

PS: BBC doors will open this Thursday for one week. I'm not doing the one week only thing to make it exclusive. I'm doing it to keep my sanity. The doors will open again later this year so don't panic.

I'm just letting you know to save you from asking questions.
